ALP and CLP commit to outsourcing Out of Home Care Services to NGO sector, but no consensus on Cost of Living and Justice issues in the NT…..

The Northern Territory Council of Social Service (NTCOSS) has today released the responses to its 4 election asks from ALP, CLP, Greens, Delia Lawrie, and Robyn Lambley.

NTCOSS sent 2016 NT Election Asksto key candidates, seeking responses and commitments. These Asks are critical to assisting those experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage in the Northern Territory and are built around four policy areas of Child Protection, Cost of Living, Justice and Alcohol. The lead up to the Northern Territory is an important time to determine where parties and candidates stand on specific issues of concern.

We have compiled a report card rating each candidate’s response and commitment or non-commitment to our Asks.

While there is consensus from the major parties on Out of Home Care services in the NT, Cost of Living and Justice received varied responses. All candidates partly committed to NTCOSS’ Asks on Alcohol.
