safeTALK – Suicide Prevention Workshop

safeTALK is a 4-hour training workshop that equips people with the skills to be more alert to anyone thinking of suicide, and being able to connect them with professional help. Using a simple yet effective model, safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference to vulnerable people thinking of suicide.
In safeTALK you will learn how to reach out to someone thinking about suicide and help them keep safe by promptly connecting them to further support. Your role as a ‘connector’ is the main focus of this training, which features:
- Trainer presentations, facilitated discussion, and skills practice
- Videos that illustrate what happens when signs of suicide are overlooked, and how you can contribute to safe outcomes when these signs are heard and addressed
- Opportunities to further explore organisational applications of the training
- A community resource person will be on hand at the workshop to support your safety and comfort
Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognise these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving mental health support
safeTALK workshops can be arranged for your organisation or group, tailored to the needs of your staff, volunteers or members (minimum & maximum numbers apply).
