International AIDS Candlelight Memorial – Alice Springs

International AIDS Candlelight Memorial
This Sunday 17 May, NTAHC will mark the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial across the Northern Territory, creating spaces for remembrance, reflection, and community connection in both Darwin and Alice Springs.
First led by people living with HIV in 1983, the Candlelight Memorial is now observed globally. It honours those we have lost to AIDS, recognises the strength and resilience of people living with HIV, and continues to challenge stigma within our communities.
Alice Springs Event
📍 Todd Mall Markets
⏰ 9:00am – 1:00pm
Visit our community stall at the Todd Mall Markets to take part in this important day. Community members can collect a beeswax candle as a symbol of remembrance and hope, and share messages or reflections on large easels. These contributions will highlight stories of loss, resilience, and hope, helping us connect with the broader Alice Springs community.
We invite everyone to take part in this day of remembrance—whether by joining one of our events or taking a moment privately to reflect and honour those affected by HIV.
