Tuesday 21 April @ 9:30 am - Wednesday 22 April @ 3:30 pm

AOD 101 & Brief Interventions Training

AADANT, in partnership with 360Edge, is delivering a two-day training workshop designed to strengthen skills and confidence in supporting people affected by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use.

This training builds participants’ understanding of AOD use, harms, and the links to trauma and mental health, while developing practical skills to engage with people in a supportive and culturally safe way.

Participants will learn how to identify risks and harms, conduct culturally relevant screening, and deliver brief interventions aligned with the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) framework. The workshop also covers practical approaches to goal setting, harm reduction and referral pathways, supporting workers to confidently apply non-clinical strategies in community settings.

What the training covers

  • Understanding alcohol and other drug use, including prevalence, patterns and impacts
  • The relationship between substance use, trauma and mental health
  • Culturally relevant screening and engagement approaches
  • Delivering brief interventions in community and service settings
  • Practical strategies for goal setting and harm reduction
  • Referral pathways and supporting healthier behaviour change
