Supporting culturally and linguistically diverse community (CALD) in Alice Springs.
MCSCA is the only organisation in Alice Springs that provides settlement assistance to migrants and refugees.
- MCSCA has a continuing role in representing, assisting community understanding and acceptance of cultural diversity and promoting multiculturalism.
- MCSCA assists newly formed CALD groups and support social and cultural activities for individuals and families and to become part of the wider community.
- MCSCA provide and assist in the provision of more appropriate, consistent and regular liaison between CALD individuals and communities and other organisations, employers, service providers and government departments.
- MCSCA also provides the following activities/programs:
- provision of case work, referrals and support to migrants/refugees.
- mentoring and developing multicultural communities.
- provision of information sessions on range of subjects based on current needs such as governance, legal issues, health, employment, parenting and family violence.
- assist clients with citizenship application and preparation for test.
- organising multicultural events such as Harmony Day and End of Year Gathering and monthly BBQ-Meet & Greet for new migrants in Alice Springs.
Multicultural Playgroup – “SusuMama”
MCSCA run 2 playgroups per week for newly arrived parents with babies and small children (from birth-4 years old) on Monday and Friday from 9.30 – 11.30am at the Alice Springs Youth and Community Centre. The playgroup provides activities for parents and children and assist with their integration into the Australian society.
