Youth Voice NT is a project that works with young people and youth workers to elevate the voices of young people in the Northern Territory. The project helps young people to have a say about things that impact everyone in the community. It also focuses on sharing the talents and stories of young Territorians.
Young people have told us they want to change the bad attitudes some adults have towards young people in the Northern Territory. Young people have said they want to showcase the value of young people and the challenging experiences young people face in the Northern Territory. To help change community and media attitudes, we are providing a platform for young people to share their story.
The stories will be shared on the ‘Youth Voice NT’ Facebook, Instagram and or website. They will also be included in a report about the ‘Youth Voice NT’ project. The report will be provided to the Australian Government so that policies, rules and decisions can better include young people’s voices and needs.
Importantly, you do not have to share your story if you do not want to. We want to create a safe space where young Territorians feel comfortable and empowered to share their story. If you don’t want to share your story, that is completely okay. If you don’t feel comfortable using your name but still want to share your story, we can de-identify the story.
Whats in it for me?
By sharing your story, you will go into the draw to win a pair of Beats Studio Buds True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones (2x prizes available). Sharing your story means you can also tell other people about something that is important to you.
How can I share my story?
However you would like – get creative! For example, you could send us a TikTok, Instagram reel, voice recording, video recording, or written story with a photo. To enter, fill out the form on the Youth Voice NT page or send us a message on Facebook or Instagram. You can also share your story in your language of choice.
