Project Manager – Empowered Communities

Empowered Communities is about creating a new and better way for Indigenous organisations, communities, families and individuals to work better together and with governments. Empowered Communities is being led by Indigenous people, for Indigenous people, in eight regions across Australia.
In the NPY region the Secretariat is focussed on supporting the Empowered Communities Regional Steering Committee (RSC) and all Anangu and Yarnangu (Anangu) in this important work.
The Project Manager will work closely with the EC team to ensure the smooth operation of the Secretariat through high quality plan, budget and project management, with well managed internal and external processes. Supporting and coordinating the design/co-design, planning and implementation of specific projects as required in support of the Empowered Communities program and the evolving Regional Development Roadmap.
Based in Alice Springs, you will support the NPY EC Secretariat, Regional Steering Committee, Anangu Communities and service providers to achieve EC outcomes through active engagement and coordination of project planning and monitoring (including costs and resources), effective progress and follow-up management, and the collaborative engagement of stakeholders for the understanding of, commitment to and management of projects and outcomes.
The successful person will be someone who can balance their own knowledge and experience with the priority of others, so facilitation skills will be an asset. A community development background could also be advantageous. You will be working within a small dynamic team where everyone brings a unique skill set.

Empowered Communities is supported by Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council. NPY Women’s Council is a leading community service organisation that provides a range of programs to women and their families. Our work spans across 350,000 square kilometres in the cross border region of Central Australia, and is critical to building and maintaining a better future for all Anangu communities within the region.
