About the organisations and the role
The Katherine Women’s Legal Service (KWILS) is a community legal centre for women servicing the Katherine region. KWILS has a small dedicated team that assist women specifically in the areas of Domestic Violence, Child Protection, Family Law, Victims of Crime, Credit and Debt and other Civil matters.

KWILS is seeking a motivated Executive Officer to lead the organisation.
As Executive Officer (EO), you will be responsible for the management of the service including leading a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.

Job tasks and responsibilities
Reporting to the management committee, the EO will drive the strategic growth and continuous quality improvement of the organisation. The EO is responsible for the day to day operations of the organisation including:

  • Project and contract management
  • Strategic planning and policy development
  • Financial management
  • Communication, networking and advocacy
  • Human resources

Skills and experience
This is a hands on role where high level project management and excellent communication skills are essential.

Essential criteria includes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (such as social science, communications or law)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated management in the not for profit or government sector
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Demonstrated cross cultural awareness

Whilst legal exposure is desirable, of more importance is a strong commitment and excellent
understanding of issues facing women, particularly women who face additional barriers for reasons
including isolation, race, culture, disability, language, poverty, age and sexuality.
