Re-framing Parenting Workshop
Monday 24 February @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm$20
Would you like to learn new strategies that can help change how we think and talk about parenting?
Improving children’s outcomes means supporting parents. We know how much parenting matters. Research conducted by the Frameworks Institute, commissioned by the Parenting Research Centre, uncovered some common beliefs about parenting in Australia. This research provided some powerful new strategies that can help change the conversations and be heard and understood by a wide audience.
What will this workshop include?
This workshop will explore the science of how we can boost the impact of our communications about parenting. It will support participants to apply these powerful insights into their everyday work. This includes:
• What is framing, and what does it mean for how we tell our stories?
• How do communications influence attitudes and behaviour?
• How does the public think about parenting, children and families in Australia– and how can we change this?
• How can we reduce blame and stigma?
This workshop is designed for anyone who works with parents and families. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss any current or upcoming opportunities to use the new frames in their work and brainstorm in groups.
Kate Spalding is the Senior Specialist at the Parenting Research Centre. Kate currently manages a number of projects with a focus on the implementation of evidence-based programs and practices for a range of child welfare and family support agencies.
