Peak body for playgroups throughout the Northern Territory which act as a voice and advocate for families, representing playgroups to government and the wider community.

The Playgroup Association NT (PANT) support all families in the NT to learn and grow through play, promoting fun and learning experiences for babies and children through community playgroups, whilst providing information and support networks for all families.

Transitional & After Care (VTAC)

Provides transitional accommodation and support for adults following drug & alcohol withdrawal and rehabilitation in order to help them sustain a successful transition back into the community.

Toy Library gives access to an extensive range of toys and equipment for children’s fun, development and learning opportunities. Annual membership of $55 allows families to borrow 3 small items and1 large item for a 4 week timeframe.

CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing counselling services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children groups, schools and agencies across the Northern Territory.

The organisation provides counselling and other support services in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Tiwi, Wadeye, Nauiyu, Jabiru, Maningrida, Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Ltyentye Apurte, Finke, Titjikala, Indulkana and Ali Curung.

The Financial Wellbeing and Capability program provides support to vulnerable individuals, families and communities to improve their financial capability, resilience and lifetime wellbeing.

We assist clients with budgeting and managing finances by increasing capability and improving skill development. This includes financial literacy education, information and coaching.

TeamHEALTH is a leading provider of mental health supports. We have been operating in the Territory for over 30 years. We are a for-purpose organisation that provides nonclinical, recovery focused support. Our vision is that all people lead a full and valued life.

Adult Support

Individual support for Adults

TeamHEALTH have a variety of support available for adults who have a mental illness or are experiencing distress in relation to their mental health.

We provide mental health supports for adults 16-64 years old who are experiencing mental health issues, with or without a diagnosis. Referrals are accepted from any source including self-referral.

Location of Support: We provide supports to people living in Darwin – urban and rural regions, Palmerston, Katherine, Daly River and Maningrida.

Centre Based Support

Adults over 16 who are experiencing mental health issues, with or without a formal diagnosis, can access the Centre Based Supports service. Referrals are accepted from any source including self-referral.

If you are feeling isolated or alone, our Centre Based Supports team provide a welcoming place where you can socialise and participate in a range of activities.

Location of Support: The Centre Based Supports office is located at Rapid Creek Business Village, 48 Trower Road, Millner NT 0810

Monday to Friday from 9.30am – 3.00pm

Support for Older Adults

To be eligible for support by the Older Adult team you need to be assessed and found eligible for a Home Care Package (HCP) or have an NDIS package that includes these supports. Non-indigenous adults are required to be 65 and over and Indigenous adults are required to be 50 years.

We support older adults experiencing mental illness who need assistance to remain living in their own home.

Location of Support: Support is available in urban Darwin regions.

Support Coordination for individuals with an NDIS package

Support Coordination is an NDIS item, whereby you receive individual support to help manage your NDIS package. TeamHEALTH have a team of experienced support coordinators who can assist you in getting the most out of your NDIS package.

Child and Family Support

Our Child and Family Wellbeing team work with children who are aged 0-18 years, together with another member of their family or significant adult, such as a parent or carer. We work alongside children and families who are affected by, or at risk of developing a mental illness.

We offer support at our office locations, Palmerston –Litchfield, Katherine, Gunbalanya, and can visit children and families in their homes, or somewhere else suitable to families in the community, such as a play centre.

Housing Support

We provide non-crisis, accommodation options for you and your family, if you are over 18 years and living with mental illness or mental health concerns and can live independently in the community with support. To be eligible to receive housing support individuals need to be engaged with an individual support worker through TeamHEALTH or another approved provider.

Medium to long-term, shared and non-shared housing options are available in a range of units and houses throughout Darwin and Palmerston. All accommodation comes partly furnished including white goods.

TeamHEALTH Housing is located throughout Darwin and Palmerston.

Residential Support

Through the NDIS we provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) by assisting participants in a shared home environment. This program assists participants build their skills around budgeting, household management and social skills. Our individualised supports each participant in their own journey to good mental health to people living with mental health issues or a significant and permanent disability.

Education and Training

At TeamHEALTH we are committed to delivering education and training to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and contribute to better mental health outcomes.

We provide up-to-date training for workplaces, schools and individuals in the community delivered by our trained facilitators.

Education and training are available in Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine.

Training Sessions: Thursdays weekly at Nakara Oval from 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Football Without Borders (FWB) is an organisation that promotes the integration of refugees, asylum seekers and new migrants in the Darwin community by engagement through the practice of football (soccer). The program provides a great opportunity for participants to meet form new friendships, practice their favourite sport and grow in confidence as they find their place within the Darwin community.

FWB competes in Football NT’s Division 1 tournament during the active football season (Feb – Sep) and plays friendlies every other weekend throught the year. No matter your skill levels, you are welcome to enjoy football with us.

Support is fluid and extends to areas outside of football including help finding work, transport and communication systems.

Somerville Community Services is a non-government, not-for-profit youth, family and community welfare organisation. Somerville prioritises and advocates for access to resources that will help disadvantaged Territorians to improve their circumstances and provide essential services to the community.  The 1800 007 007 National Debt Helpline provides free financial counselling via the telephone.  Financial Counsellors are available to assist with a wide range of finance related issues including money management, general debt and bankruptcy.  Face to Face appointments may also be available in our Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine offices.

The Intensive Family Preservation Service aims to keep children safe and living at home following identification of safety concerns.

COOLmob

COOLmob works with the Darwin community to help protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water usage through improved home-energy efficiency, reduced car usage, reduced waste going to landfill and water conservation. Home and apartment building sustainability audits are conducted by COOLmob’s specially trained sustainability officers.

 

Environment Centre

Peak community-sector environmental organisation providing advocacy and policy development as well as conducting public media campaigns to raise community awareness of environmental issues and lobbying government on matters of environmental importance.

Programs offered include Living Harbour, Safe Climate, Nuclear-Free Northern Territory, Green Living and Nature Territory which deals with land clearing & sustainable land-use. The Centre is also involved with government processes and submissions including environmental-impact assessments.

YWCA operates the Medical Accommodation Program  on behalf of the Department of Health and works closely with the Patient Assisted Travel Service (PATS).

Barbara James House (BJH) is a “Hotel with Heart” providing high standard and well appointed guest rooms for a guest and their carer. Our guests travel arrangements are made by PATS who bring them from regional Northern Territory locations to stay while accessing treatment at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre.

Dr Helen Phillipps Cottages (DHPC) are offers guests from remote or regional areas a “home away from home” in one of our six three bedroom homes located within close proximity of the Royal Darwin Hospital and Casuarina Shopping Centre. The facility has been established for people and approved carers from rural and remote areas to book through PATS to access medical or dental treatment.

This program aims to provide a safe and less conflicted environment that enables parents to maintain relationships with their children after separation.

This service includes changeovers and supervised visits with a focus on the wellbeing of the child/childrren.

Palmerston Men’s Shed

The Palmerston Men’s shed welcomes Men and Women over the age of 18 yrs.

Australian Men’s Shed Association provides space for rehabilitation, socializing, companionship and gremlins getting into trouble. We do many community projects, shed projects and personal projects.

We have a large variety of woodwork tools and machinery as well as welding plant and various other metal work tools for members to use onsite. Members are welcome to make their own things. Tools are not lent out.

Annual fee of $50 cover your insurance The Men’s Shed provides support and friendship to all.

Representation & Advocacy Services

COGSO encourages and supports parent participation to promote high-quality educational outcomes for children in public primary-school & secondary-school education. Advocacy, support and representation for parents of children in public education on all education-related issues in the Northern Territory and at the national level are provided.

Governance advice and support in targeted remote Northern Territory communities are also provided.
