Moving Forward has 8 modules which cover the following subjects: Smart Money 1 – Budget and savings; Housekeeping Tips and Tricks; Smart Money 2 -Credit and Debt Management; Self Care Tips for your Mind, Body and Soul; Smart Money 3 – A roof overhead-Sustainable Tenancy; Creative Shopping Tips and Tricks; Tips and Tricks to finding and sustaining employment and training; Tips and Tricks of Parenting.

Somerville manages a number of emergency relief programs to help people deal with their immediate crisis situation in a way that maintains the dignity of the individual and encourages self reliance. Our ERF service is available through our Palmerston, Wagaman and Katherine Offices.

The 1800 007 007 National Debt Helpline provides free financial counselling via the telephone. Financial Counsellors are available to assist with a wide range of finance related issues including money management, general debt and bankruptcy. Somerville’s Disability Services program aims to provide high quality services to people with disability living in the Northern Territory. We strive to provide innovative and best practice support that meets individuals’ needs and wants. We offer this service in Darwin, Howard Springs, Katherine and Alice Springs. The program utilises the principles and objectives of the Disability Services Act (1986) and the National Disability Service Standards (1993) to provide high quality support.

The Somerville Life Skills Development program is based on strong evidence-based person centred practice. We will work with participants of the NDIS to develop tailored programs that meet their individual needs and life goals. Participants may choose to have one-on-one support or be part of a small group.

Towards Independence Program (TIPAS) Is a transitional housing & outreach program for families with children under 16 years old and are on Territory Housing Priority waitlist. It is a case managed program.

The Somerville No Interest Loans Scheme provides people on low incomes with flexible and affordable credit for the purchase a range of household items. This service is currently available in Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine.
Salvation Army 12 week non-residential (day) alcohol and other drugs rehabilitation program for adults.

One of the adverse affects of gambling is extreme financial difficulties. Somerville’s Financial Counsellors provide an assessment and strategies to assist people to achieve outcomes that minimise the effects of their situation. The service is available to existing or recovering gamblers and/or anyone who is experiencing financial difficulties related to gambling.
CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing counselling services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children groups, schools and agencies across the Northern Territory.
The organisation provides counselling and other support services in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Tiwi, Wadeye, Nauiyu, Jabiru, Maningrida, Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Ltyentye Apurte, Finke, Titjikala, Indulkana and Ali Curung.
CatholicCare NT is committed to the safety of women and children. A significant part of this is addressing the behaviour of men who perpetrate violence in their relationships. The CatholicCare NT Men’s Behaviour Change Program is a 24 session program that works with men to address their:
- violent and
- controlling behaviour
- hold them to account
- to take responsibility for their abuse
- To take responsibility for their behaviour
CatholicCare NT work with men who perpetrate violence because everybody is entitled to the opportunity to change their behaviour. If a program participant achieves his goals, the lives of others also become changed.
Men’s Shed
Provides support, friendship and social opportunities for men of all ages. Men’s Shed provides tools and equipment that the men can use for small woodworking or other hobby activities and community projects.
Alice Springs Red Shield Hostel is short-term crisis accommodation for men 18 years and over.
