The Intensive Family Support Service aims to reduce child neglect and improve child wellbeing for 0-12 year olds, to increase the capacity of parents and carers to help them improve the health, safety and wellbeing of their children, and to ensure that no 0-12 year old child is removed from their families by  the Department of Children and Families.

This program aims to provide a safe and less conflicted environment that enables parents to maintain relationships with their children after separation.

This service includes changeovers and supervised visits with a focus on the wellbeing of the child/childrren.

We provide adults with care, protection and a safe place to sleep 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. They are referred to the shelter by the police, community patrol or community services after being found intoxicated in public spaces. For many clients, the Sobering Up Shelters provide an alternative for incarceration and pathways to engage in AOD and other health services to help reduce the harm for AOD misuse.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • 18 years of age or over
  • referred to the service by Police, Community Patrol Organisations, other referring agencies, responsible community member or self referral
  • intoxicated through drinking alcohol or through inhaling volatile substances
  • conscious and not seriously injured
  • not unmanageably aggressive or abusive.

YWCA operates the Medical Accommodation Program  on behalf of the Department of Health and works closely with the Patient Assisted Travel Service (PATS).

Barbara James House (BJH) is a “Hotel with Heart” providing high standard and well appointed guest rooms for a guest and their carer. Our guests travel arrangements are made by PATS who bring them from regional Northern Territory locations to stay while accessing treatment at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre.

Dr Helen Phillipps Cottages (DHPC) are offers guests from remote or regional areas a “home away from home” in one of our six three bedroom homes located within close proximity of the Royal Darwin Hospital and Casuarina Shopping Centre. The facility has been established for people and approved carers from rural and remote areas to book through PATS to access medical or dental treatment.

Chronic Disease Management

Dialysis treatment services on country in remote communities and via the Purple Truck. Alice Springs GP clinic for dialysis patients, primary health care and referral to allied health services.

Aged and Disability Care

Aged and disability services for dialysis patients in Alice Springs, and home care services for Mt Liebig community.

Wellbeing and Social Support

A coordinated range of support services for dialysis patients from remote communities who are required to relocate to regional centres for treatment, including assistance with transport, advocacy and social activities.

Bush Balm Social Enterprise

Bush Balms products are made from plants expertly collected on Aboriginal lands in Central Australia. Developed by and for the growing numbers of dialysis patients and their families, Bush Balms offer employment opportunities and reinvestment into expanding Purple House services.

Mission Australia Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Service (MARRTS) is a 40 bed residential rehabilitation facility for alcohol and other drugs. The facility is located on Tivendale Road in Berrimah NT and accepts referrals for men and women over 18 years. We work in partnership with the Northern Territory Government to provide support, treatment and care options to reduce the harm for clients and their families affected by alcohol and other drugs.

Our aim is to provide a residential setting free of alcohol and other drugs. The intensive client-centred inventions combined with therapeutic programs will facilitate change for individuals and ensure that change can be sustained after reintegration into their communities. Aftercare and outreach support is also provided for through Top End Health Services and St Vincent De Paul Aftercare Program.

The Sobering-Up Shelter Darwin provides adults with care, protection and a safe place to sleep 6 nights a week. They are referred to the shelter by the police, community patrol or community services after being found intoxicated in public spaces. Mampu Maninja-kurlangu Jarlu Patu-ku Aboriginal Corp. operates the highly respected Yuendumu Old People’s Programme (YOPP) aged care service.

The core aim of the program is to provide a range of support services that enable old people to remain living in Yuendumu with their families and thereby relieving the risk of unnecessary permanent placement in Alice Springs nursing homes. We achieve this by delivering high quality, culturally appropriate care and services to aged and frail clients and by supporting family care givers.

MHACA is a not for profit specialist mental health service providing psycho-social support services and educational programs aimed at enhancing the mental health and well-being of people living in Central Australia.

We offer a range of services which aim to facilitate wellness for a diverse range of individuals living with mental illness or going through mental distress.

MHACA provides psychosocial support services, NDIS support coordination and services, individual and group-based supports, educational and training programs and a Drop-in centre.

MHACA can help people with a diagnosed mental illness with:
