Cleaning Service

Women are employed in a cleaning service that is offered to the community.

 

Creche

Creches create comfortable, safe and healthy places where infants and children are nurtured and respected and the parents feel comfortable about leaving their children. The program assists women who want to study, train or work including CDEP. Creches provide on-site child care while parents or guardians attend programs.

 

Hairdressing Service

A low-cost hairdressing service is provided for indigenouswomen.

Laundromat Service

A laundromat service is provided for indigenous women.

 

Nutrition for Kids

Cooked meals are prepared as material aid for families ofinfants and toddlers who would otherwise be nutritionally at risk. Mothers of the children participate in the preparation and cooking of the meals.

 

Opportunity Shop

Provides financial support to the Women’s Centre through the sale of second-hand clothing at affordable prices.

Textile Production

Indigenous women are employed in the production of textile goods which are then offered for sale in the Women’s Centre retail shop.

Men’s Shed

Provides support, friendship and social opportunities for men of all ages.

Men’s Shed provides tools and equipment that the men can use for hobby activities such as woodwork, leatherwork, car maintenance and painting. A weights room and gym are also available.

Health Education & Training

Provides health education and training about basic health, germs and microscopy, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, chronic diseases, sexual health and strongyloides for Aboriginal people. Home visits are provided.

Yuendumu Women’s Centre (YWCAC) is a meeting place, a resource centre and provider of advocacy services for the women of Yuendumu and their families.

We are a social change organisation working to build a just society where all people can live to their full potential. Since early 2017 we have been piloting the Youth Justice Group Conferencing program which aims to help young people see
the impact of their actions on victims of crime, and to support young people to restore relationships with those they have harmed.

Veterans’ Welfare

Provides welfare services and advice about pensions andconcessions incapacitated veterans of all ages and assistswith applications and claims to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Community Shed

Provides support, friendship and social opportunities for adults and young people 15 years old or over. The Community Shed provides tools and equipment that can be used for hobby activities such as bicycle repair & maintenance, community gardening, sewing and painting. Workshops offered include computer skills, music & performance collaboration and handyman skills.

Multicultural Youth Organisation

A multicultural youth-led organisation that focuses on building the capacity of young Territorians to be active members of their community through networking, leadership development, peer education and the facilitation of social and recreational activities.

MyNT also advocates for the needs and rights of young people. A youth leadership summit is held each year with representatives attending from across the Northern Territory.
