Cooking With Asylum Seekers

Provides the opportunity for asylum seekers to cook the food of their own culture. Ingredients are provided.

Cooking With Culture

A cooking and nutrition program for older migrants. Each week members of the group offer to demonstrate the preparation and cooking of food from their own culture.

Emergency Relief

Emergency relief is available in the form of food vouchers for singles and families in financial distress.

Multicultural Advocacy

The peak community advocacy body in the Northern Territory representing the interests, concerns and aspirations of people from non-English-speaking backgrounds. Interpreters are available.

Multicultural Parents’ Support Group

Supports parents from culturally & linguistically diversebackgrounds by providing them with information & support on issues of concern & interest such as health, positive parenting, education around the topic of child protection and providing healthy meals for families on a budget.

The program helps to reduce isolation, increase self-esteem and build positive family relationships through group discussion & social interaction.

Settlement Grants Program

The Settlement Grants Program assists ethnic communities through direct service provision, advocacy and community development. The Scheme provides information, referral, counselling and support to assist newly arrived migrants with special needs to gain access to basic services such as education, training, income support, health and language services. Regular information sessions are conducted.

The Scheme also identifies and meets the settlement needs of migrants and ethnic communities, analyses government policies, and provides advocacy on policy issues.
