Community Development Employment Program(CDEP)

The program provides unemployed indigenous adults andyoung people 15 years old or over with employment placement and skills acquisition including accredited training and links to apprenticeships and traineeships. Employment projects and activities are chosen by local indigenous communities or distinct groups of indigenous people within a community. The training wage received by participants is equivalent to the appropriateunemployment benefit.


Community Night Patrol

Night Patrol and Remote Area Night Patrol work together with the police to provide a culturally aware program that works to prevent incidents of violence in Katherine township and remote communities.

A training component is available.

Delivered Meals (HACC) (Meals on Wheels)

A hot or ready-to-heat subsidised midday meal is delivered at low cost to those who would otherwise be nutritionally at risk, including the frail aged and people with disabilities.


General Store

A general store selling household items is available for thecommunity.


Kalano Community Association

Provides housing, social security and municipal services for Aboriginal residents of the Kalano, Rockhole & Geyulkgan communities. Association programs include building & construction and farming activities.


Money Management

Provides information and support for individuals and families who are experiencing debt problems. Advice on debt management, negotiating with creditors and budgeting is provided. Information on bankruptcy, credit laws and government assistance is also available.
