Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS)
General medical services are provided for Aboriginal families and singles.
Emotional & social wellbeing counselling and support areoffered for those affected as a result of the stolen generations. General counselling is available for families and individuals and may deal with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, postnatal depression, loss & grief, relationship difficulties, sexuality and domestic violence.Women’s groups are also available.
Infant & Child Health Screening
Screening and monitoring of health for infants and childrenunder five years old is provided as well as advice about health concerns for parents with children in this age group.The service particularly assists indigenous families.
A men’s health clinic, with referrals as necessary.The Clinic focuses on the early detection and treatment ofchronic diseases. The service particularly assists indigenous males.
A mobile clinic offers health services for the frail aged, the ill and those who have disabilities and are unable to attend the Health Service and for those who do not have transport. The service particularly assists indigenous people.
A sexual health clinic for the indigenous community, includes testing, counselling and medical treatment for HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmissible infections.
Social & Emotional Well-Being
A social and emotional wellbeing worker is available to provide support for members of the indigenous community who have mental health problems or emotional difficulties.
Specialist Clinical Services
Specialist allied health & medical services include audiology, paediatrics, ear, nose and throat (ENT), treatment for diabetes and asthma, podiatry and colonoscopy. Specialist medical physicians are also available.
Well Women’s Clinic
A women’s health clinic, with referrals as necessary, offering family planning & fertility advice, pregnancy testing & advice, Pap smears, breast examination and rubella immunisation. The Clinic also focuses on the early detection and treatment of chronic diseases.
The service particularly assists indigenous females.
Youth services include activities, counselling and support for children and young people. Counselling may deal with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, postnatal depression, loss & grief, relationship difficulties, sexuality and domestic violence.
