ABOUT BALUNU

The Balunu Foundation is a not for profit, charitable organisation focused on the healing of Indigenous youth and people and is based in Darwin, Northern Territory. In particular, Balunu seeks to instil a cultural identity among Indigenous youth at risk through a culturally

appropriate healing program which builds self belief and self esteem whilst assisting Indigenous youth to overcome the wide range of challenges they face as young Indigenous people in today’s society.

Balunu is focused on addressing the social challenges faced by Indigenous people and youth through a healing centred engagement approach. Although the program is Indigenous specific the program has achieved great success with non Indigenous youth who have attended the program.

Through a deliberate and purposeful program Balunu aims to provide hope for Indigenous youth and families by breaking the cycle of disadvantage through good health, education, life skills, opportunity, training, employment and most importantly healing. Identity plays the most crucial factor in strengthening the youth’s sense of self and the healing allows for the individuals to free their pain enough to take advantage of opportunity that exists to move forward in the new world, whilst maintaining a strong connection to culture and identity

Relationships Australia NT provides a diverse range of counselling services, responding to the needs of individuals, couples and families from all cultural backgrounds. Counselling is available on a wide range of issues including relationship development/improvement, relationship difficulties, sexual concerns, family violence, grief and loss, and individual growth.

It’s still business as usual for us, although we’ve closed our offices to limit the spread of COVID-19. Appointments will be available via phone and video only.

NTAHC delivers a range of programs aimed at preventing the transmission of blood-borne viruses (BBVs) and provides support for people living with a blood-borne virus. Programs are delivered in urban and remote communities via health promotion and one-on-one care and support.

Care and Support Service

Support for people living with HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C. This includes budgeting assistance, counselling, a drop-in centre, emergency-relief funds, hospital visits, provision of vitamin and mineral supplements and referral to medical services and other agencies.

Needle & Syringe Program

A community needle and syringe program providing collection boxes, replacement needles & syringes, referrals, education on harm reduction, education for service providers and education about reducing the spread of HIV and other blood-borne viruses.

Sex Worker Outreach Program (SWOPNT)

Provides counselling and support for sex workers and escort agencies and referrals to other health care agencies and education on safe-sex practices and reducing the spread of HIV and other blood-borne viruses is provided.

Safer sex products are available for purchase through the SWOPNT SWOP Shop.

Health Promotion

NTAHC develops a range of health promotion campaigns and resources throughout the year, as well as holding events to acknowledge health awareness days of significance.

Formed in September 2014, Rainbow Territory is an unfunded Northern Territory community group that advocates for the human rights of Northern Territorians who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (‘LGBTIQ’). Rainbow Territory aims to develop a safer, fairer and a more inclusive Northern Territory.

Rainbow Territory wants to change law and policy in the NT to make the NT a better place to live for LGBTQI people of all ages.

We do this through

FPNT is a non-government organisation, not for profit, responsible to a governing board of
